Slow Food Chefs' Alliance in Morocco


In 2013, Morocco became the first African country to join the international network of Slow Food chefs. The Moroccan chefs, along with hundreds from Italy and the Netherlands, support small producers, the custodians of biodiversity, everyday by using products from Presidia projects and the Ark of Taste, as well as local fruits, vegetables and cheeses, in their kitchens.


The number of restaurants and Moroccan chefs who want to join the network is constantly growing; it is bringing great chefs from the capital to smaller places in the more peripheral areas of the country.

 

The project was initiated in collaboration with Maroc Taswiq, a public consortium that distributes the products of hundreds of small producer cooperatives in Morocco.
