André Wassaumie Passa, coordinator of the Lifou Island Taro and Yam Presidium in New Caledonia, sadly passed away yesterday evening, June 16, following his long battle with illness.
André participated in the Terra Madre world meeting in Turin, as well as various other Slow Food events, and his enthusiasm and commitment to the Slow Food philosophy greatly contributed to the development of local projects. In particular, he launched the first Presidium in New Caledonia together with the ADCK - Centre Culturel Tjibaou.
Those who were fortunate enough to have known him are deeply grieved by his passing and will remember him with affection, for his many qualities and for his warm-heartedness.
